What is Toluna?

what is Toluna?

Toluna or Toluna Influencers as they like to call themselves is a survey panel that conducts surveys for brands from several categories such as Electronics, Travel, Banking & Finance, Information Technology, Food, etc.

Toluna uses the large database of members registered on its website as a way to help brands in understanding consumer tastes and needs. This, in turn, shapes the brands and the products that are all around us.

But with a huge database of members, brands are only interested in users that meet certain criteria. For an airline company conducting a survey on travel, this could be someone who has traveled in the past month or year. Hence, Toluna has several profile surveys that help them segregate users and users and then receive surveys as per their demographic.

Once you register and complete your profile surveys, the lengthier and more complex surveys are then sent to your email. However, of late there are very few sent to your email and instead, you will have to log on to the website or the app to check for available surveys and complete them. These surveys are a series of simple questions that also include multiple-choice questions designed to know more about your behavior, tastes, and opinions.

Toluna has a well-developed interactive app that is available on both Google Play and the App Store.

Apart from Surveys, Toluna also tries to keep an engaging and interactive platform for its users, offering you several ways to earn points.

You may also register on Toluna to receive free products from popular brands by signing up to be a product tester. You do not earn money to test these products but you can keep them and provide your feedback to Toluna.

Product testing is not an option available in all countries and since there are only a limited number of products given out, you may or may not get to test them.

The Toluna app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. You will need to have a PayPal account to receive rewards via PayPal while Gift vouchers are sent directly to your email address.

It is important to know that you should not attempt to create multiple accounts for yourself with the aim of earning more points. Using the same PayPal address and IP address to complete surveys triggers the Anti-Fraud system of Toluna and you risk losing your accounts.

5 Ways to Earn Toluna Rewards

Toluna is not exactly a reliable way to earn a lot of money but they do offer multiple ways through which you can earn points and redeem them for a variety of rewards.

1. Take Surveys

The main way of earning points on the Toluna platform is through surveys.

Among the two types of surveys, Profile Surveys offer you 100 to 200 points and are quite important as these demographics help in deciding if you will be qualified for their longer surveys.

On the other hand, the longer surveys generally take about 15-25 minutes to complete and have a reward of 2500 to 4000 points. Occasionally, you may receive a survey with a reward of 6000 points that may take you 30 minutes or longer to complete.

The points appear on your profile after a day or two, as the result and participation needs to be confirmed before you receive your points.

2. Participate in Polls

Almost daily, Toluna conducts Sponsored Polls on various topics. Voting on this poll gives you 15 points. These polls will always appear first, when you log into Toluna on the mobile app, while on the website, these polls are under the sponsored content.

3. Create Content

Toluna also calls itself a medium where users can create content – polls, battles, topic discussions, etc. For consistently creating good and unique content, you get rewarded with 1000 points. However, this is not guaranteed and can be quite time-consuming for no reward.

4. Win Competitions

There are also contests conducted on Toluna, where you can participate and win points. The biggest contest that takes place is called the Sweepstakes, where for 500 points, you get one ticket. Every day, one winner is chosen and rewarded with a million points. To qualify for these sweepstakes, you also need to have a profile image and be an active member. To be an active member, you need to have participated in or created a poll or topic discussion within the past 3 months.

The other contests that are conducted are smaller in nature and involve posting a photo about a certain topic or being the user with the highest content created for the month. Toluna specifies the rewards for these contests but they do not go higher than 3000-4000. The best part is you do not miss out on these contests as Toluna sends these as a notification to every member and can be seen when you log in to the website only.

5. Play Games

Another way of earning points is the Toluna Wheel, which is under the Community section. This is not available on the app and can be accessed only via the website. All you need to do is spin the wheel and hope for it to land in your favor. Rewards range from 40 to 1000 points. However, statistically speaking, it is quite hard or almost impossible to win points of a higher amount. On most occasions, you might get the “better luck next time” or a reward prize of 40-200 points. This Wheel can be spun only once per day.

There are also other games available such as MatchMania and a few others that change every now and then, but they are not as popular as the Toluna Wheel. You may win points through them but you would be spending way too much time for little to nothing.

Toluna’s Reward System

Toluna has a huge variety of rewards to choose from. The minimum balance of points required to redeem a reward is 30,000. For 30,000 points you can choose $10 vouchers from GAP, Groupon, Starbucks, Chili’s, Sears, Kohl’s Petco, Redbox, Panera Bread, and Cheesecake Factory.

For 45,000 points, you can redeem $15 vouchers from Best Buy, CVS, Sephora, Xbox Live, and iTunes. For 60,000 points, the rewards are $20 gift cards that could be from Redbox or Starbucks. At 65,000 points, you can redeem a $20 Bitcoin Gift Card.

For 75,000 points, the rewards are $25 gift cards from either TJ Maxx, Dell, Papa John’s, Overstock.com, Reward Link, Yankee Candle, and Lowe’s. 150,000 points can get you a $50 gift card from either Amazon or Lowe’s or even Starbucks.

Gift cards take a long while to process and you may receive the reward anytime between 4 to 8 weeks from the date of redemption. There have been complaints where users have received their rewards after 8 weeks but in all cases, Toluna does reward the user.

The most popular reward is PayPal where you can redeem 95,000 points for $30. PayPal rewards are the fastest and you may receive them within 4 weeks from the date of redemption.

In case you haven’t received your reward, Toluna is quick to respond to any issues. Send them an email or contact them through the website and they will cater to your issue.

It is important to know that the points earned on Toluna can expire if not used within 16 months of earning them. Although 16 months is a long time and if you are a regular user of Toluna, it isn’t something you should worry about as you can earn enough points to make several redemptions by then.
