Paribus Review: Legit or Scam? Everything You Need to Know

Can you imagine an app that tracks your purchases and if there is a price drop on the item you purchased it sends you a refund for the difference?

That might sound too good to be accurate, but that is what Paribus does.

Most retailers offer some price guarantee for a certain amount of time. Usually, it’s the same amount of time you have to return an item for a refund. If you shop a lot online, then this might sound like a gift from heaven.

But the question is, does it save you money? Is it a scam or a legitimate app? Read on to find out more.

Is Paribus Safe to Use?

Having an app that knows what you spend and where you spend it, is the other side of the coin. How else could it know if a store owes you a refund for a price drop?

Not everyone is comfortable with the idea. But it isn’t some sketchy third party company who is running the Paribus app and maintaining the database.

Capital One acquired Paribus in 2016. The same Capital One that asks what you have in your wallet on those TV commercials.

Looking to extend their technology base and increase their reach in the market place, Capital One saw this as the platform to make that happen.

After Paribus became Capital One’s app, there was no longer a fee to get the app. You don’t even have to connect your credit card to the app, with one exception, for it to be able to kick your refund back.

Amazon is the exception, but even for them, it is optional. If you want to take full advantage of Amazon’s price matching service, you would need to connect your credit card to the app, but it is not required.

Price Drops

Worried of unexpected price drops after you shop? After you make a purchase, Paribus monitors the retailer’s site for lower prices. When a price does drop, Paribus will file a refund request on your behalf or help you contact the retailer to get back the difference.

Late Deliveries

Did your delivery not show up on the right day? Paribus knows when your packages should be delivered. If Paribus detects a late arrival, it’ll send you an alert. From there, you can contact the retailer to get back those extra pennies you shelled out for that not-so-fast delivery.

Returns

Tired of getting stuck with a dud purchase because you got busy and the return date passed? Paribus tracks when you bought things and checks them against the retailer’s return policy. As the deadline approaches, Paribus sends you an alert along with return instructions—saving you a chunk of change and some space in your closet.

How Does Paribus Work?

So now that we know what Paribus is and why it is safe to use, how does it know when you spend money at a participating store and that you have a refund coming?

For Paribus to work, you have to give the app’s receipt fetcher access to our email. And not just read access but read, send and delete access.

It is the only way that Paribus can keep track of your online receipts and know when to issue a refund when it detects price drop.

Once you have installed the app, it will scan your email for any previous purchases that may have had a price drop. If there is a price drop, it will issue a refund. You may have money sitting in your inbox now and not even know it.

If you are leary of anything having access to our email, you could set up a separate email account. Only use that email for your online shopping receipts and Paribus. Gmail has no limit to the number of email accounts you have.
